AIB - FIRESMART Community

Since the Wildfire swept through our Community in 2017, maintaining fire mitigation practices on reserve has been top priority for Chief and Council.

Our focus is to prioritize the area surrounding the Community by continuing to thin out sagebrush, bunch grass, tumbleweeds, weeds, debris as well as reducing or removing all flammable fuels from around homes and buildings. We try to have a couple controlled burns throughout the Spring and/ or Fall as well.

We have hired students and community members to complete these tasks Spring thru Fall.
