Community Gardens Project 2010
Would like to send out a special thanks to all the hard work the gardeners put into our community gardens this year. Don’t think that I’ve seen so much produce ever. It was a huge success and to know that Safety Mart Foods was buying our veggies and selling it in their store is really amazing and an honor. We are hopeful to fun it again next year!! We also got so much canning done this year from all the produce which will be handed out in our Christmas hampers in the next couple of months. So… all in all I would like to say you guys did an amazing job!! GOOD STUFF!!
In Other News
-We have 5 post secondary students this year, way to go guys keep up the hard work!!
-We are running the wood program again for members to get wood for the winter. We hears it’s going to be a long one this year.
-There was a community forum recently with Cache Creek trying to bring the communities closer together and for any future tourism possibilities, and business ventures.
-We are looking into getting the chimneys cleaned again this year there will be notices going out before this happens so we will keep you posted.
-Fishing has ended for the season as of Oct. 15, 2010. Was a good run for sure!!
-Well the races are now all wrapped up for the year. Wasn’t too bad of a racing season this year, 12 races managed by the AIB.
-I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving food hampers, put together by Ester and Heidi. Way to go!
-Pumpkin carving at the Health Center on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, after school. Come dressed up in your Halloween costumes and there will be door prizes and give a ways. So come and have a good time!
-COMMUNITY CLOSET a hand up, not a hand out! Free, quality clothing for low income women. Thurs. 9:30-11:30am Nov. 4& 18 and Dec. 2& 16 at the Elizabeth Fry Society, 827 Seymour St. Ph: 250-374-2119 ex. 204
-Sending out a big congrats to Amy H for getting her Bronze Cross and Bronze Medallion, she is now qualified to be a life-guard!! Way to go girl!!
-Service Canada is now offering information sessions that can be held at the Health Center: CPP and OAS/Employment Insurance/Social Insurance Numbers/Employment Assistance Programs
Or you can visit in person at: Village of Cache Creek Office, 1389 Quarts Road, Cache Creek, BC from 9:30am-3:00pm, on the first Wed. of each month.
Please call the office if you want a program at the Health Center.
-Ladies Support Group still going on at the Health Center every Thursday from 10:00am- 12:00pm.
-Our next Foot Care Clinic with Madeline will be on: November 24, 2010 from 100:00am- 12:00pm.
-We currently have 2 of our community members working in Archeology with Terra Archeology. They’ve been going strong since summer time. Way to go guys!
-Summer student program went well treated them to a trip to the PNE which they all quite enjoyed with some back to school shopping!
-C/C have been attending meeting with some Doctors to try and get them back in Ashcroft and they are exploring options on trying to get a Doctor at the Health Center as well.
-We had a music video that was shot in our area by Melissa Ray Berry. Shots were done next to the Church and other parts of the reserve. You can watch it on CMT, I just seen it on the other day. Looked pretty good!!
-Mobile Mammogram will be at the Ashcroft Hospital on Dec. 10-11, 2010 and back again on June 22-23, 2011.
Flu Shots
On October 19, 2010 there will be a Child Health Clinic going on here at the Health Center. Barb Simon will be in to book appointments.
Our first Flu Clinic will be held on November 1, 2010 at the Health Center from 10:00-12:00 am.
Our second Flu Clinic will be on November 18, 2010 from 10:00-12:00 am.
